FUNimation Licenses Count of Monte Cristo

FUNimation Entertainment has announced that it has licensed Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo.

Trying to escape his uneventful life, Albert, the son of a renowned general from Paris, makes a journey with his friend Franz. During his travels, he meets an immensely wealthy nobleman named The Count of Monte Cristo. Living in luxurious hotels, surrounded by beautiful women and strong bodyguards, the charming but enigmatic count fascinates Albert. Albert invites the count to join the high society of Paris. However, unknown to Albert, his father had once framed the count and took the Count’s fiancee as his own.

The series was originally licensed and released by Geneon Entertainment in 2005.

Trailer for ToHeart 2ad Plus OVA Online

AnimeNation has posted that a trailer for ToHeart 2ad Plus OVA is available online at Animate.tv. AnimeNation says the OVA is scheduled for sale on February 24th, 2009 in Japan, but a comment on the post quotes April 24th.

Yurumeitsu Manga to be Animated

According to Anime News Network, the four-panel manga Yurumeitsu is getting animated. Yurumeitsu follows the story of Yurume, a “ronin” who moves in to a new apartment complex to study for next year’s entrance exams.

Maria Holic Anime Episode Streaming Online

The first episode of Maria Holic is now available for streaming on Animate.tv. Registration on the site is required and the episode is only available in Japanese.

Maria Holic is a romantic comedy based on the manga by Minari Endo. The story follows Kanako, a high school girl who is afraid of men and in search of her perfect female love. Unbeknowst to Kanako, her perfect girl is actually a crossdressing boy.

Mainichi Kasan Anime Next Spring

A new anime version of Mainichi Kasan (Everyday Mom) will be animated for television next spring.

Mainichi Kasan is the work of Rieko Saibara and follows the story of her and her two kids. The manga has been running in the Mainichi Shimbum newspaper weekly since 2002.
